Pair of German late-WW2 rear cavalry saddlebags (packtasche 40). Totally unlike early-war M34 bags. Larger bag (13" x 9") stamped “Ebensberg 1942.” Smaller rider’s bag (10" x 9") factory-stamped “cxb 40”. Both bags attach to rear saddle. Metal catch stamped “D+C”. Rare triangular coupler attached to smaller bag; inside reveals 3 pouches for ammo clips. (See photos & Paul Johnson’s book Horses of the German Army WW II, p. 98.)
