This original belt buckle (Koppelschloss) has a pebbled finish with a slightly convex shape, and features an eagle with downswept wings clutching a Balkan cross in its talons. In this rare variant design (much favored by collectors), the wreath is separated at the bottom by the large cross. (The more common type has a continuous wreath.) Excellent condition. Circa 1944.
