Rare US WW2 M1 helmet with “7AWR” stencilled on front. Front-seam swivel bale helmet. Canvas & leather liner in mint condition. Outside front part of liner is stencilled “Kennedy” in white lettering. The stencilled “7AWR” most likely refers to a specialized unit within the Army Air Force called the 7th Air Wavelength Regiment, which saw service in the Pacific Theater of Operations. This regiment was responsible for highly technical tasks involving disrupting Japanese communications, signals, intelligence, and decoding. Helmet has been well-maintained; minor surface rust appears around the brim (as expected), but there is no denting or other deformation.
